Sandra Berjan is a PhD student in the German Literature and Critical Theory program. She received a B.A. from the University of Toronto in English and German Literature in 2008 and an M.A. in English Literature in 2009. She spent a year studying German literature and theory at the Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg, focusing her work on the (im)possibility of self-knowledge in Franz Kafka's The Trial. Her academic interests include: ekphrasis, the relationship between poetry and philosophy, literary images, representations of plasticity and sculpture in literature, and the sublime.
