Jonathan Agins is a PhD student in the German Literature and Critical Thought program. He received his B.A from Stanford University in German Studies in 2009. He is particularly interested in critiques of traditional notions of rationality and subjectivity in Nietzsche, Kierkegaard, Freud and Heidegger. Other areas of interest include the capability of poetry and prose writing to bind and evoke affect, the role of Ancient Greece in the 19th and 20th century German imagination, and the development of the German philosophical tradition in 20th century French thought.
